Skype available in android market

Skype is now available free to download, for all android phones.  After a waiting so long, Skype is now available for more than just Verizon Android phones.  The application is available for download and use by anyone running Android 2.1 or above.

Shortly after naming former Cisco executive Tony Bates as its CEO the company is in the spotlight once again with the release of its mobile application working on all Android handsets.  Please visit the Android Market to take a look and try it yourself.

The app will allow free Skype to Skype calls over Wi-Fi connections.  And of course it has its IM chat service available also.  The free app has the ability to sync your Skype contacts with your phone’s address book.  Take a look at the above video for a demonstration.

Skype has acknowledged that there are some issues with compatibility with the Samsung Galaxy S phones.  At least my Evo can experience the good news!  Unfortunately however Video chat does not currently work at this time.  So those that are fortunate enough to have front facing cameras will need to wait a bit longer before we can fully take advantage of this feature.
